  1. There is also the issue of power levels

Household microwave ovens are 1 kW or so

Big commuincation arrays are 10's of that, actually quite dangerous to stand in front of

  2. At the fundamental level, nothing. In fact, microwave ovens use 2.4GHz and so share the spectrum with 802.11b/g/n.

At the higher level, it's the power level and how the waves are modulated and directed or contained. It's a bit like the difference between using water to put out a fire vs. watering your garden: the oven is high power and concentrated microwave energy, while your wi-fi access point is low power and broadcast energy.

  3. The latter is confined to the inside of the oven, is fixed frequency with no modulation.

The first is sent between microwave antennae, is of any of a number of frequencies, and is modulated by various methods, and carries lots of information.
