What is the difference between negative, neutral and positve connotation in a sentnce?

  1. Connotation is the implied meaning, as opposed to the exact meaning.  Neutral could be "He drove past at 50 mph"  vs.  "He whizzed by at 50 mph"  or "He crawled by at 50 mph".  Depending on whether or not you like to go fast, one is negative and the other positive, while all three say the same thing.
