my grandma is getting her retirement pension, on the form it says that you can apply for normal or disability pension..... if she is already on disability and applies for disability pension, will that cut out her disability earnings?

  1. Regular retirement is when the person reaches the age of retirement with no physical/mental problems.  Disability retirement is when the person is forced to retire because he/she has a physical/mental problem.  You would probably want to apply for regular retirement if your grandma already has disability funds.  However, the government isn't stupid, they will find out and your grandma may just end up getting one check instead of two.  I don't think the government is paying two checks to everyone who has a disability and is retiring.
