  1. A part time MBA means that you are pursuing your MBA on a "part time basis" - usually 6 to 9 units per semester which should take you about 6 to 7 semesters to finish the whole program. Most people opt for this program because almost all are working and can't or won't be able to fix the rigorous academic requirements and schedule around their working hours.

On the other hand - the full MBA program is designed to be accomplished in about 3 or 4 semesters wherein students are given the full load of 12 units per semester.

After receiving your MBA- it really wouldn't matter whether you enrolled full-time or part-time to get it.

  2. Depends on the school. In some cases there is no difference other than taking longer to complete the part-time program. But if the school uses adjunct faculty to teach in their part time program and keeps its permanent faculty for the full-time program, there could be a perception of different quality.

You can compare programs in the Official MBA Guide which reports vital statistics such as the percentage of adjunct faculty, teaching in the program, and similar information. It's a free service with more than 2,000 quality programs listed.

  4. A full-time MBA course is always better than a part-time one. You will definitely gain some knowledge about Management from the part-time certificate program but it might not be considered on par with a full-time MBA.

If this is the only option you have then I would suggest you go for it.

  5. As an international student, I would recommend for you to take the full-time program.  Part-time program is usually for people who work full time jobs during the day and only have time to go to school in the evening.  For this reason, most part-time program classes begin after 5 PM, so you would have to find something to do all day if you do not have a visa to work in the USA.  Also, by doing full-time you will be taking 3 or 4 classes (instead of just 1 or 2 part-time) so you will be able to focus more on your studies, participate in after class activities, and meet more people!

As for San Jose State University, I do not think it has a reputation for being a 'great' business school, but I am sure the program is not bad.  One year full-time program seems rather short (most full-time MBA programs are 2 years + summer internship) so I am wondering how much you really learn?

Here is a link from Forbes.com that shows the top business schools in USA...  San Jose State is not on the top 56 school...  this link also shows costs and what score you should get on the GMAT in order to apply to that school:  http://www.forbes.com/lists/2007/95/lead...

Good luck picking an MBA program...  Each school can have very different programs, so it is best to find one that fits your needs now as a student and also helps you with your future career goals.
