I believe tilt just moves it from transport to water position and trim moves it slightly while in the "water" position, but I'm not totally sure.

  1. power trim means the boat is shaped likr a v. power tilt means the boat tips back.

  2. You are correct in what T and T means. Trim tabs are the flat plates that can tilt the boat from side to side or push the bow down.

  3. To use a volvo penta stern leg as an example, power tilt means that the leg has tilt feature only, usually operated by a mechanical/electrical device. Tilt is for either beach or trailer position only. The actual leg trim is adjusted by pin and rack device like an outboard.

Power trim is found on later model stern legs and is operated by hydraulic cylinders. The leg can be trimmed from a negative position to a positive position (eg   minus 4 to plus 5 degrees) to enable the vessel to be trimmed to suit water conditions. By pushing an over ride switch the leg will continue to lift to a beach or trailer position. Normally the engine is turned off to go to beach position.

  4. Power tilt is the control that tilts your drive units up or down; usually a pair of hydraulic cylinders on the sides of the units.  Power trim are the controls at the back of the hull of the boat, attached to the base of the stern, that help control how far out of the water your bow raises.  They look like flat metal panels and are moved up or down with small hydraulic cylinders.
