  1. My first thought is airport safety.

  2. According to Republicans, post 9/11 life involves some sacrifices in convenience (e.g. airport lines) and privacy (e.g. phone line tapping, etc) so that we can find and track terrorists.  They believe this is not a violation of vital American freedoms because we are now in a defensive position against terrorists.

  3. I think the big difference is fear, and how people let it run their lives and the decisions that they make.  We don't care what's right or wrong anymore (as a societal whole), we just want to get what we want, no matter how it affects others, just so we have a superficial feelings of  "morality", "patriotism" "safety" and "justice".

This has bad consequences for all Americans. I am sad that we have allowed ourselves to become a nation lead by fear mongers and that our citizens are actually dumb enough to believe in them, and allowed our leaders to take away our basic constitutional rights to privacy and freedom of expression.

I don't want to live in a police state, but in the last 7 years, I have seen my country, and my great home state of New York turn into one.  I hope that we don't follow the USSR's mistakes.

  4. pre 9 11 we had care free attitudes and could do things without thinking "at any moment we could be attacked" post 9 11 we find outselves scared to fly more security and sterotyping middle eastern people ..... and many other things .... just the way things have changed since 9 11

  5. Before 9-11, the government pretended to respect the Constitution.  Now they trample on it openly, essentially unopposed, using the war on terror as an excuse.

  6. The stock market crashed and I lost a lot of money. Little kids are now having worries they should not have. My nephew is a Marine fighting in a war that did not exist before 9-11. A friend lost his mother when the first tower fell. A local guy decided to rob a convenience store and kill the clerk because he was Arab, and thought he was doing the USA a favor. I don't particularly like to fly any more. I call some people "rag heads" even though I know I shouldn't. I am suspicious when I see several Arab men riding in a car. Most of the time, however, I don't think about it anymore...but sometimes something reminds me.

  7. We had to listen to Bush's endless obsession with terrorism- I honestly cannot remember anything worthy of note that he has ever said beyond this one, single, nauseating concept that seemed to possess him like a demon. I mean I knew the guy was basically brain dead but I certainly did not expect the stuttering to continue for quite so many years.
