Environmental Science is concerned with the entire environment.  It focuses on the interactions of the physical, chemical, and biological components of the environment.  An interdisciplinary approach is necessary mainly due to fact that man's effect on the environment is monitored.  The study of economics, law and social sciences are often applied in conjunction with Environmental Science.

Ecology is the scientific study of the distribution and abundance of life and the interactions between organisms and their environment.  Ecology is usually considered a branch of biology.

Ecology could be considered a branch of Environmental Science.  It does tend to be smaller in scope than Environmental Science.  Studies are usually limited to  specific populations such as endangered species or to the effects of pollution on wetlands population.
