  1. basically,

IN means inside.eg:: she's in the car. which means she is inside the car,

ON means on top,or above something eg:: she's on the car. which means she's above the car or on top of the car.

  2. In is in the inside and on is on the outside... If that makes sense.

For example, "water is in the cup". The water is inside, not outside, so we say in. In the sentence "the glass is on the table", the glass is not inside the table, but it is on top (on the outside), so we say on.

  3. "The cat is on the box:" http://www.earthstarshop.co.uk/images/bl...

    Edit: Awww, haha! Thanks, 田中!

  4. In literally means within it.  -in my soul

On means above something.  i.e. on the counter
