What is the difference between "Ski Jumping" and "Ski Flying"?

  1. Jumping is sanctioned by the IOC...Flying isn't. I suppose 90m is just too small of a hill for some people. Thus is the nature of most sports now....Go Big or Go Home.

    There has been a world championship held annually for over 30 years, however there are only five places to officially compete. One would think after 30 years they would have worked to increase its status as a sport?


  2. ask scott macartney.. he had a horrendous crash at kitzbuhl at the weekend,he was doing 130+km/h at the time, and ended up in a coma... heard last night he's on the mend so good news..

  3. The difference lies in the size of the hill, i.e. in so-called hill-size or "critical" point of the hill. Hills smaller than 185 metres are for skijumping and hills bigger than that are for skiflying.

  4. The height of the hill or structure. Both are 'jumping' but the distance flown or covered is great.
