  1. I'm pretty sure that sempai is incorrect. O_O I'm not Japanese but I've never heard of sempai (I watch a lot of anime XD) and from what I've seen, both female and male have been called "senpai".


  2. They're both more or less correct.  The "m" and n" sounds are somewhat difficult to distinguish when heard.  This is also the case in Tibetan, for example in respect of the honored title riNpoche, often spelled riMpoche.

    Remember in the original language there are no "spelling differences", the differences arise when "translating" the sound into english   :)
