Value and Growth portfolios should attract different investors based on the investor's risk tolerance.  Value portfolios usually include securities that are considered a good 'value', that is, they are considered underpriced or undervalued.  These portfolios attract more conservative investors.  Growth portfolios include securities that have room to grow in the future, but their growth may not be definite, and therefore Growth portfolios are often more volitile.  So, Growth portfolios attract more aggressive investors who have a higher risk tolerance.
