What is the difference between rays and particles... like alpha RAYS and alpha PARTICLES.?

  4. An alpha ray is a stream of alpha particles.  Alpha particles are Helium nuclei that are emitted from unstable heavy nuclei.  More or less they are usually used interchangeably.
