  1. relative dating is mostly a mountain folk thing


  2. Relative dating is dating things based on the things that are around them- judging that a certain object is older, younger, or about the same age as another given object. Absolute dating gives a specific age or range of ages that it is (ex- finding a fossil and finding it to be 50,000-70,000 years old).
