What is the difference between salat and dua?

  1. yes in english i guess it sounds that way.

    salaat = ritual prayers and extra prayers in the same ritual ways.

    dua' = asking Allah for forgiveness, and other things.

    dhikr/athkaar(pl) = remembrances of Allah, i.e. subhanallah.

    The meaning of the word just depends on which context you use it in.

    Generally, the 5 daily prayers are referred to as Salat and making dua to Allah, (i.e. asking Allah for something) is referred to as Dua.

  4. Salaah is a type of Du'aa.

    There are two types of Du'aa:

    1) Du'aa al -Ibaadah: which is like the Salaah, it is done in a specific way

    2) Du'aa al- Masalah: which is a supplication
