  1. i think the s***w pump works on a s***w type of thing and the diaphragm works on compression, hope helps if right

  2. A s***w pump is essentially any pump that uses threading or threaded pieces designed to move a fluid through a space. They are used on ships because they can produce very high flows at low-ish pressures, with minimal noise.

A diaphragm pump is similar to a peristalsis-pump in that there is a rubber, teflon, or other flexible layer inbetween the pump itself and the fluid, either to protect the purity of the fluid (e.g.: a dialasis machine) or the motor itself, if the fluid is causic.

A diaphragm-pump works like a drinking straw, only instead working by creating a /positive/ pressure, which pushes a fluid to/into another location.
