  1. Igneous Rock:

    - formed from melted rock that has cooled and solidified

    - magma cools slowly, usually at depths of thousands of feet, crystals grow from the molten liquid, and a coarse-grained rock forms

    - magma cools rapidly, usually at or near the Earth's surface, the crystals are extremely small, and a fine-grained rock results

    - examples: obsidian (volcanic glass), granite, and basalt

    Sedimentary Rock:

    - formed at the surface either in water or on land

    - sediments such as fragments of rocks, minerals, or animal or plant material is layered - (a layer of the above and then another layer on top and then another layer etc)

    - become cemented together by minerals and chemicals and pressure

    - sand and gravel on beaches or in river bars look like the sandstone and conglomerate

    - dried mud harden into shale

    Metamorphic Rocks:

    - igneous and sedimentary that have changed due to extreme heat, pressure and/or chemical change inside the earth

    - they are transformed into denser, more compact rocks - can have major changes

    - example shale into slate, sandstone into quartz and limestone into marble

  2. The different about Metamorphic is somehow changed to make a new rock. Some of the changes that can take place is when heat is added, a lot of pressure is aplied to the rock, or other changes, as long as the rock didn't turn into a liquid during the change.

Sedimentary is a kind of rock that was made of dirt, sediments, (hence the name sedimentary) pebbles, decaying matter, or other organic material. An example of a sedimentary rock is a fossil

Igneous is from melted lava from volcano. Hoped I Helped ^_^

  3. Igneous rock is cooled lava flow.

Sedimentary is formed from "sediment" or stuff like sand.  On the beach, for example, other rocks break apart from crashing waves, and rocks form from the "sediment".

Metamorphic is the squeezing of sedimentary rocks into different shapes.
