I'm looking for something that can secure me when I'm on the edge of a cliff, so if I fall it won't break? What kind of slings, or webbing is usually the best (strongest) for this?

  1. Slings are basically webbing sewn in different size loops and are used to connect the pro or gear placed in cracks or on bolts to the lead rope and are made out of slightly smaller and stronger webbing for lightness and practicality. Webbing on the other hand is sold usually by the foot and comes in some different widths and is often used for belay anchors, rappel anchors, and top rope anchors. This is what you would be better then slings for keeping you anchored to the cliff edge. You could also use 6 mm cordage that is designed also for belay anchors. Maxim makes a 25 foot spool that is reasonably priced.

If you don't mind, I went back and looked at some of your questions. I wasn't sure what you were going to be doing with the answer you get. It concerned me in that I hope your not trying to learn climbing technical skill and knowledge on yahoo alone and that you have the acquittance of people that are knowledgeable. It is a very dangerous sport to be learning by trial and error. Your questions have had some knowledge but not a lot, and I worry I can't help it, for your safety and for the validity in the public and governments eyes for the continue freedom of the sport.
