What is the difference between alluvial,black,red,lateri... & mountain soil?

  1. Alluvial - deposited by flowing water, sorted somewhat, little or no clays.

    Black -  soils with high amounts of organic materials.

    Red - soils with iron that has been oxidized (rusted).

    Laterite - a term for soils developed in tropical environments, usualy thick and can contain lots of alluminum becuase of the weathering of feldspar minerals.
