  1. Squid, like cuttlefish, have eight arms and two tentacles arranged in pairs, but squids are longer and thinner and have the two longer pairs of tenticles. The cuttlebone is one of the major differences because squids don't have bones.

  2. Cuttlefish are more intelligent than Squid.  They also have a bony structure within the mantle, while Squid do not.  Cuttlefish can also change into more colors and also do it faster than Squid.

My wife and I were diving in the Bahamas and two Cuttlefish followed us around for the longest time.  They were great, and wonderful creatures.

  3. The cuttlefish has a "chalky" interior structure to give it bouyancy, called a cuttlebone.

The squid is a close relative, but has no cuttlebone.

Both can be prepared & cooked in similar ways, and both are quite delicious!
