As an animal lover, I've donated to both organizations and in every town I've lived in, I've volunteered at my local shelter, but it occurs to me that I've never really known the fundamental difference between the American Society for the Prevention to Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) - I know many people that use their names interchangeably.
Are they two organizations doing the same type of work? Does their work differ more than I know or is it that they have two different philosophies?
Can anyone help me out with a good explanation of both/either or maybe mission statements that would help me to better understand why they are separate?
