What is the difference between the Article of Confederation and the constitution?

  1. Just off the top of my head I know that the Articles of Confederation did not allow Congress to levy taxes.  

    There's way more than that though.


  2. The Articles of Confederation favored strong state power, that overshadowed the Federal government. This proved to be a terrible idea, as states held the power to tax and raise armies, so troops and money could not be dispensed as was necessary throughout the nation.

    The Constitution gave more power to the Federal Government, and more unified the states into a nation by centralizing power at the nation's captial as opposed to throughout the states.
