What is the difference between the KGB, the Cheka and the NKVD?

  1. They killed and tortured and did all kinds of cruelties. The name isthe only difference. The people are mostly the same criminals.


  2. The CHEKA was the first Soviet secret police, the NKVD was a military intelligence organisation and the KGB was the modernised CHEKA to oppress all opposition to the Soviet dictatorship. The were slightly different by name and organisation but all of them did the same dirty job.

  5. One lead to the other. I think the NKVD founded the Cheka which eventually changed to the KGB
