Other than size, what is the difference between the two. I wanted the 12"s but i cant find them for anything less than 800 (that is subs and sledgehammer box) but i found the 10"s for 550 with subs and sledgehammer box. The wattage and everything on them are the same ( both 1000 watts and 500 rms) so i was jus wondering should i jus go with the 10"s or do the 12"s sound better. Either way i am goin to push it with an 1500 (1000 rms) watt amp. This will be goin in a ford explorer by the way.

  1. Well the 10's are going to sound cleaner than the 12's, and this will be more noticeable because the subs fire directly into the listening area as opposed to a trunk.

On the other hand, the pair of 12's will move more air and will generally hit harder and be a bit louder. If you want to be heard, I would say go with the 12's.

Also, the sledgehammer boxes are ported and designed for volume and hard hitting bass, so buying subs to be extra clean is kind of defeating the purpose, because I have found sealed boxes to be cleaner and more precise

  2. why dont you hook up the amp and listen to both? you're in the market for a sub/box anyways i think the best way is listen to both and buy what sounds best to you.
