What is the difference between the OEM battery and the NON-OEM battery with regards to a digital camera?

We are looking for a car charger for our sony cybershot camera and we don't if the 2 are compatable? If our battery is OEM can a NON-OEM charge the battery?

  1. OEM = original equipment manufacturer.  Example... Sony

    NON-OEM = a 3rd party makes it...probably something Korean or Chinese or some such...But not necessarily..

    Yes, the charger will work ...it just means it's not made by Sony...
