  1. My gyno also told me, in addition to what you've already been told, that he had patients that complained of a lower s*x drive while on yasmin, that yaz is kind of the new and improved yasmin, yaz also helps with the PMDD symptoms.

  2. They are made by the same company, and they contain the same two hormones, but there are two differences between the pills.

First: Yaz has a slightly lower amount of estrogen (ethinyl estradiol) per pill. Yaz has 0.02 mg per pill, where Yasmin has 0.03 mg per pill. They both have the same 5 mg per pill of progestin (drospirenone).

Second, Yaz has more active pills. Yaz has 24 active pills and 4 placebo pills. Yasmin has 21 active pills and 7 placebo pills.

They are very similar, but Yaz is slightly lower in hormones and the shorter placebo week means a shorter period for most women. You may find that you like the Yaz better, or you may not notice a difference.

    Hope that helps!
