What is the difference between the budd m1/m3?

I am asking about the metro north m1/m3!! Also, can anyone tell me what is the difference between the m2/m4/m6????

Two of the most visible differences between the M1 and M3:

- M1s have engineer / conductor windows that slide down into the carbody.  M3s have those windows mounted on sliders outside the carbody.

- M3s have a ventilation duct on each side where on an M1 you would find a passenger window pane.
