  1. Generally a carbon pool would refer to the amount of carbon stored in the grass or wheat at any given instance. The carbon flux would refer to the flow of carbon primarily from carbon dioxide in the air, into carbon containing starches, sugars, proteins, and cellulose in the grass, and then into animals and microbes that consume the grass and finally back in to carbon dioxide as those organisms derive energy from those substances and breath out their waste products.
