  1. There are several Mormon sects still in existence, the LDS church in Salt Lake City is the largest and wishes it could copyright the term Mormon. WIkipedia has a good list of the sects (see link below).

Most sects stopped practicing polygamy under direct threat by the US government around 1890. The FLDS sect was started by some LDS men who decided not to stop polygamy. They claimed the LDS leaders were reacting to political pressure and not to God's revelations. They claimed THEY had a revelation that said so.

The FLDS were left alone by the LDS dominated Utah and Arizona governments, but Texas quickly stepped in to try to end the abuses.

  2. Some LDS churches (for example in Pomerene, Arizona) still practice polygamy, these churches are sanctioned by the Salt Lake City Temple.  As a former member of the church - polygamy is alive and well.  Supposedly the mormon church ousted polygamist a century ago at least publicly but not in reality. Joseph Smith was the founder of the church and he believed not only in polygamy but marrying very young girls as well.   If you would like to read more about Mormonism search online for the prophet Joseph Smith, and the Book Of Mormon.  There are also many books and articles written by people that have left both the LDS and FLDS churches which are very interesting.

  3. The Church of the LDS does not condone polygamy (Mormons).  The news is about a group that left the LDS, and by definition is a "cult".  There are many polygamous cults from Canada, down through the US into Mexico and Central America (and other countries).  It has been going on for years.  Many live in remote areas.  This current case is being tried by showing girls under 18 gave birth.  It is not being tried on polygamy per se as none of the marriages were legally done (US Courts of Law).  They were all married within their "church" only.  So no law of polygamy was broken.

  4. Mormons or the Latter day  Saints go to the celestial Planet where they have secret handshakes to code the guy in the ward to get their wives. and have at least 8 children until they reach said celestial planet. Mormons - Joseph f Smith and Brigham Young  but they are dead now well at least  I say they are dead but they believe their existance remains bodily in their planet and they were spirit children along with Lucifer (satan) and Jesus Christ  (Moses 4:1  citation is  LDS.com.

Sloppy maybe but  they have a different  version of Jesus So they are very nice, moral people but the religion is and always has been broken.(not  Christian orthoxy although they call themselves  "Christian". To e  quite honest  Polygammy is probably  normal, compared to m any other things  they  practice. A good book to read is  called  Mormanism 101. Even thouigh they may deny  half  of what is  in the book. it  is  taught by  Mormon lesaders From Orson Pratt to pres. McKimball. You are  reading  the  avtual words  from their  leaders and  they (the  LDS ) usually  deny what  is  said.

As far  as  The polygammy isssue goes, threy dont  prsactice it in The USA. because it is illegal, the RLDS church I believe do not   nor  ever practice  polygammy. the book I am referring tio is   compiled by  McKeaver. and  can be found @ equip.org/

I think the cult in Texas that hit the  media  were mormon.

    Any thoughts? Stolen dreams?
