I was watching the Italy soccer team play South Korea and noticed that there were barely any players from the Euro 2008 cup games as well as the FIFA team. The Euro 2008 team had a bunch of players from World Cup play but the Olympic team has maybe 1 or 2 of the same players, if that. I would think that the players would be about the same, especially since Euro 2008 was played in the Spring of this year.

  1. It is basically because FIFA and UEFA do not reconize the Olympic as part of their official soccer calender.  Thus the players that are selected by each of the country's federations must meet the age requirement.  For example, look at the situation at the Olympics with Argentina and Brazil...for example Lionel Messi was not going to be able to play for Agentina, however because of court ruling it was ok plus he is under the age 23 limit at age 21.

  2. Because the olpmic teams are for younger players. There is a certain age requirement. I am not sure what that age is.

The team can only have 3 player over the age of 23. And most of the player for Italys euro cup are older

  3. Teams are only allowed 3 players over the age of 23. Euro 2008 was played in the summer hun! (June)
