  2. The Triassic began at around 250 million years ago and was generally more arid. It was followed by the Jurassic at around 215 million years ago, and that continued until 145 million years.

    Uppermost Triassic and lowermost Jurassic fossil faunas are broadly similar with some losses and additions.  Quite often, it's actually difficult to determine quite which age some localities date from.  The transition was a gradual one.
