What is the difference between the words "Whom" and "Who"?

I've asked quite a few people I know and so far no one has been able to give me an exact definition.

  1. Who is subjective; whom is objective.  But don't worry about that.  Here is an easy rule:

    If the answer could be "he" use "who."

    If the answer could be "him" use "whom."   He who -- him whom.
