  1. Cuttings are when a cutting is made from a plant and put in water or soil where it develops roots and becomes a plant genetically like the parent plant. Tissue culture is when a small group of cells taken from a plant are cultured, or grown, in a nutrient rich, sterile, media like agar until it develops roots and stem tissue and is grown out into a plant also genetically like its parent plant. The main advantage of tissue culture is that you can grow thousands of new plants at the time if you want to, a lot more than you can get making cuttings. The advantage of cuttings is the technically a lot easier and you get a larger plant to start with.
