  1. You should definitely take some lessons or at least buy a racquet and start playing recreationally with others. Badminton is not similar to tennis besides the idea of using racquets; everyone is good at badminton. Since you seem to like it so much, try out for JV. I mean there are definitely freshman who make it on 'Varsity' but since you have never played before, I would assume you would want to learn the basics of hitting the ball and everything and gain some experience first, versus just being on Varsity for the heck of it.

  2. JV is junior varsity and is athletically below the varsity level

  3. JV is for freshmen and sophs

    V is for juniors/senios

  4. JV is for beginners, Varsity is for experienced players who are quite good and have good chances of winning. JV is less competitive and serious - definitely tryout for that if you have never played before.

ps badminton and tennis are ridiculously different.

  5. High School's want the very BEST tennis players on the team. They pick like the best 10 in tryouts, and the best people who didn't make varsity, are on JV. Believe me, It is possible to make varsity tennis as a freshman.

  6. im on my highschool team playing #2 singles. For a highschool tennis team JV players dont start in matches, There are 3 singles players and 2 sets of doubles, which your couch will choose. The rest of the players on the team will just go to the practices. Good Luck
