  1. White candles are usually pure paraffin, which is a by-product of petroleum distillation.  Colored candles (yellow is sometimes beeswax) have wax soluble dyes added to produce the color... You can purchase candle dye in your local craft store and add it to paraffin to make colored candles.


  2. Whatever is used to add the color.

    There are liquid dyes, and wax dyes, and I used to use old crayons, when I was younger.
