I want to join a yoga or a Pilate's class. I'm 16 and 5'1 ha ha, so i want to stretch and get leaner and taller. I also want to relax. I don't know what the difference is, so please describe each one. Also, if you can give your opinion to which one you think is better. Thx.

  1. yoga is more medataeing and the other 1 is more movement

  2. yoga=better(i think)

  3. I am a couch potato so... as far as I know Yoga is a system of exercise and meditation which seems to be very strenuous as you have to perform all sorts of twists and turns at the more advanced level, but the exercises are gentler and easier for beginners. Pilates is a system of very easy  exercises by comparison. Anyway, if you are only sixteen you have a long time to reach your eventual height so I don't think you have much to worry about.

  4. Yoga is for mind/body/spirit balance. It's targeted to build a total harmony between your inner and your body. It has many benefits, such as, relaxation, make the body flexible and strong, live in peace of mind..ect.

Pilates, is aimed to make your body strong, by targeting certain spots of it. It's good for building a beautiful looking body.

I suggest that you go with yoga, as it's bigger than pilates. But you can also try a combination, which is better for you.

Here is nice free yoga e-course, for you:
