I know 10kw is 10,000 Watts but i dont know what is KVA and how you convert from KW to KVA. thank you

  1. Power factor

As long as a load is completely resistive (there is no imaginary component to its impedance) then KW = KVA

But watts represent useful power, so when the impedance is complex, the actual useful power (watts) is lower than the product of the input voltage and the current (volt-amperes). The relationship between the two is given by the power factor, which has an absolute value ≤ 1.0.

  2. "KW" is the unit of Active power (Kilo Watt)

"KVA" is the unit of Apparent power(Kilo Volt Ampere)

"KVAR" is the unit of Reactive Power(Kilo Volt Ampere Reactive)

Thease units are making the power triangle (right angle).

KW will be in base side

KVA will be the diagonal side

    KVAR opp.side

If its a pure resistive circuit (theoriticaly) there is no reactive component. Then KW=KVA
