  1. "Mitigation" is the obligation one normally has to do something to minimise the losses one is exposed to when something bad happens. Whereas "corrective action" (or actions) are the things that need to be done to try and put something or a situation back as it was before some harm came to it.

    Anither way to look at this is that mitigation is usually an obligatin that falls upon someone who has suffered a loss, whereas corrective action is an obligation that might fall upon the person or entity that caused the loss.

    Subtle difference I know, but hopefully that helps (from a legal standpoint)


  2. Mitigation- means severe,harsh or without decoration.

    Corrective- means correcting what is bad or harmful.
