  1. You would probably have to address this question in two forums, here and on a Soviet site.

All I know is that my life hasn't changed, I haven't been hauled away yet.  None of my personal rights have been put in jeopardy.  All this, and I work at an airport where TSA has regular access to my activities.

  2. There is no KGB anymore.  It was disbanded in 1995.  However, if you want to imagine the KGB still exists:  First, you would have to know the KGB's policy and the Policy of Homeland Security to compare the two.  Good luck in finding the KGB's policy.  Since "policy" is only the stated course of action, you might be more interested in comparing the manner in which each group enforced their policies.  A policy statement is usually only a political statement.  Enforcement is the hammer used to make the policy work.

  3. Mr Putin put the KGB out of business.

JFK tried to put the CIA out of business but failed.

What about n**i Germany?  They called it Home State Security.  Means the same thing as what we have now.

  4. The KGB was openly operating as an agency established to create fear and suspicion amongst the people
