What is the difference: blue ray vs. high def dvds?

  1. Both are newer video formats that hold significantly larger amounts of data than regular DVDs. Since these discs hold more data, it means that the video that is stored on them can be of much, much higher quality. This, in turn, means that the video players for these new formats must be a lot more powerful to read all of that data. So no, your current DVD player can not play Blu-Rays or HD-DVDs. Blu-Ray holds slightly more data than HD-DVD, but they quit making HD-DVDs, I believe, which is great, because the two formats were incompatible with each other.


  2. blu ray is more advanced. but it doesn't matter anymore cuz the high def war is over now since all manafacturers stopped making hd dvds and hd dvd players. u basically only have one option now if u want high def movies.
