What is the difference btwn porcelain enamel & stainless steel & which is better?

I am looking to replace the "Flavor Bars" on my genesis grill by weber and they offer two different types, porcelqin enqmel qnd stainless steel.

  1. It's might surprise you but they are actually both steel. (I researched this when I had to buy cookware for a wedding present.)

    The differences are that enameled steel (aka porcelain enamel) conducts heat better than stainless steel and has a semi non-stick quality to it.  Stainless steel may not conduct heat as well, but is easier to clean and will last longer -- porcelain enamel tends to chip over time.

    I hope that helps!  I bet it's more costly (?) but I'd go with the stainless if you're thinking easy clean-up and frequent/long-term use.
