Ammo. I know better than to try to substitute this ammo but a acquaintance argued that they were the same.I need proof from someone who is more knowledgeable than I am.

  1. Look in SPORTS under OUTDOOR RECREATION and you will find HUNTING. It is a good section. Lots of gun experts in there. I don't know much about ammunition or rifles but I do know that the Mauser is one of the best rifles out there.

  2. They are no where close to the same out side of bullet caliber.  A 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser round would not even chamber into a 6.5 Arisaki as the cartridge is longer and bigger around both.  The Swedish Mauser is much more powerful the most 6.5 rounds and has a larger diameter base, most bases are the same size in the 6mm and up to 8mm size because most are based on the Mauser ammo (yes includes the 30/06 and since the .308 and 7.62mm NATO are 30/06 based them also).  So use nothing but 6.5x55 Swedish in a Swede and the 6.5 Arisaki in the Arisaki.  Which way were you thinking about going?  You might chamber a 6.5 Arisaki in a Swede but it would not be supported and would probably split the case when fired-meaning very dangerous.  The best place to find evidence is a reloading manual which gives the dimensions of the cases which is different btween these.  The Swede is 6.5x55 and not 6.5x57 Mauser.
