What is the difference in Photoshop and Image Ready (both by Adobe)?

Ok what i mean by the question is what exactly do they do are they the same? I mean i know photoshop cus im learning it but i heard that Image Ready is just to add graphics to the image after you photoshop the image... Is the true???

  2. Imageready is a bitmap editor  used to do quick edits on web graphics.  It doesn't have nearly as many features as photoshop but specialises in things like image slicing (for layouts), gif animations and compression optimisation.
