  1. There is a lot of difference. Punjabi food comprises of Roti, Saag, Onions, paneer and maybe a NV item.

Muglai food is the food that you can eat when you are traveling or on the move i.e. they tend to be dry and full of energy i.e NV.

I was reading in one of the answers about Indian restaurants serving Punjabi food in the US. That is because even Indians confuse Indian food with Punjabi or Muglai food. There is nothing called Indian Food. None of us seem to understand that. There is either Punjabi Food or Tamil food or Bengali food etc etc. But NOTHING called Indian.

  2. Punjabi

A typical Indian restaurant in the United States serves a host of Punjabi food. Many non-Indian identify Punjabi food with the Indian food. Punjabi food includes classic favorite such as Tondori Chicken, Naan, parathas, Alu Tikki, Makke di Roti and Sarson ka Saag and many more. Punjab a northwestern state of India is also known as 'the Land of Milk and Honey'. A typical Punjabi meal with consist of roti, daal, yogurt and curried vegetable. Many Punjabi eat rice very infrequently and only on special occasions. Punjabi meals usually have lot of onion, tomatoes, cumin, turmeric, mustard, garlic, ginger cooked in pure cow ghee. Milk is a very important part of Punjabi food in its many form such as yogurt (dahi), lassi, paneer, makhan (white butter) and ghee. In rural India, Punjabi food is mostly served on "Dhaba". Dhaba is a usually self-service roadside food joint that is frequented by truck drivers and travelers.

    Mughlai

Mughlai dishes are probably the only lasting legacy of the three centuries of Mogul rule in India. The tandoor (an earthen oven) is used in preparing some of the famous Mughlai dishes including tandoori chicken, seekh and boti kabab and tandoori fish as well as lamb kebabs laced with spices, rice pulaos and biryanis, tandoori, grill items, and crunchy salads.

Mughlai food is very rich, its sauces consisting of curd, cream and crushed nuts like cashew. The biryani from the kitchens of the nawabs of Hyderabad is a flavored and spiced rice cooked in ghee with chicken or meat, and is a meal-in-a-dish eaten with raita and salad. Aromatic spices and ghee make Mughlai food a very rich form of cuisine.

  3. Punjabi food consist of recepies from Punjab state & Mughalai foods, is being passed from generation to generation by Mughal dynasties, ruling India at one time.  Thats where its name came from. Mughalai food is non-veg oriented & if you want to taste best mughalai cuisines in India, Hyderabad is the place & for Punjabi naturally need to visit a Punjabi Dhaba (north India)
