  1. What are you talking about?

  2. Since I found this question in the Canadian section I will assume you are in one of the provinces with private auto insurance. The star system represents the number of accidnet free years that a particular driver has. A new driver would be at zero. After a year of being acciden free, and being insured, you would be at one star. After two years of being accident free and insured you would be at two stars. Most insurance companies sto at six, just because it would be a little unwieldly to have rates for ten, fifteen and twenty stars. Note that you must be both accident free and insured in order to gain a star, as an insurance company's record is the only way to prove you had no accidents. If you were currently a three star driver and had an at-fault accident (even partially) you would drop down to one. Some insurance companies will start new drivers at a three star if they have successfully completed an approved driver training course. Although you would stay at three stars until you completed your fourth year of accident free driving. If you are a six star driver, some insurers will only drop you down to five stars after your first at-fault accident. Keep in mind if you tried going elsewhere more than likely another insurer would rate you at zero.
