What is the difference in starting Clomid on day 3 and starting on day 5?

Which is more effective? 3-7 or 5-9?

I am not sure why different Drs use different methods but I have been to several fertility Drs and I have used Clomid a bunch of times and I have been prescribed the day 5 through 9 method.  I have tried to do some research on it and I have not come up with any solutions.  

What my Dr told me (I am back on again this month) was that starting on day 5 and continuing through day 9 puts you into the "normal" cycle pattern of ovulation between day 14 and 15.  I am not sure if it matters much, but that's what my Dr prefers.
