  1. American football is for *******

  2. rugby is a football game in which play is continuous without time-outs or substitutions, interference and forward passing are not permitted, and kicking, dribbling, lateral passing, and tackling are featured....and football u already must know what it is...

    This link is very helpful.

    From what I know, rugby:

    1. Does not require players to wear protective outfits.

    2. Tackling is only allowed to the player who holds the ball.

3.You can pass the ball to your teammates only if they are behind you. This means you can pass the ball frontward or backward.

In the frontward case, ensure that your teammates are behind your back therefore they have to run frontward to catch your delivery.

    While in American Football:

    1. You need to wear protective outfits for safety.

    2. Tackling can happen anytime. Just ensure you follow the rules.

    3. You can pass the ball freely to any directions.

That is all I know, I think.

I recommend you to do rechecks on my answer or any answers given.

    Thanks.

  4. They are not at all the same game.

They are totally different. Different equipment and strategies. . One is played with round ball on the ground and the other is played mostly in the air with an oval type ball. .

  5. RUGBY FOOTBALLERS HAVE TESTICLES!!!

  6. Too many differences.

  7. american football is for little girls...too many differences

  8. Rugby sides are comprised of 15 (or 7's) and American football is 11.  In Rugby, the side stays on the field pretty much the whole game.  In American football, there are specialist teams, offense, defense, special teams.  The teams some on and off the field during time outs and get plenty of rest compared to Rugby.

    The ball is slightly different.

American football is scored 6 points for a touchdown, 3 for a field goal, 2 for a run or passed extra point and 1 for a kicked extra point.  Rugby is Try is 5, conversion 2, penalty 3 points.

In American football, each play starts on the iniative of the offensive side, following a break in the action.  The ball can be advanced only by certain positions who can move the ball by running it or by passing it to another player.  Plays from "scrimmage" usually only last about 10 seconds until the ball is down, upon which the players reform and start over.  In American football, players wear equipment and pads because of the frequent contact at scrimmage and the nature of hits caused by high velocity of the forward pass (getting hit by a middle linebackers after catching a slant at full speed is no joke...I haven't been hit that hard on a rugby field.  Also, players on offense are allowed to block defensive players at will, within certain guidelines.  There are no scrums in football...possession is determined by control of the ball.  No throw ins either.

That said, Rugby requires more stamina and delivers some hard knocks and dangerous encounters of its own.  I find Rugby more grueling and demanding than football.  The players are certainly more fit and seem to be hardier than American football players.

  9. Are you kidding??? There's no comparison! Rugby is for real men, American football is for fat, wussie slobs. Rugby is basically like soccer with your hands, and you can nail the c**p out of somebody when they've got the ball. No pads. American Football is a drawn out war game that involves much less contact, though I woundn't want to be clobbered by some 350 lb monster Tackle

  10. If anyone is interested there are two types of rugby. In 1895 a split occured that ultimately created two distinctive sports that are still going strong today. The first is Rugby Union played with fifteen players in a team and is played across the globe. The second is Rugby League, and there are thirteen players in each side. This sport is played mainly in northern England, Australia, and New Zealand. Both rugby's and American football are good, high contact sports. The toughest of them is my favourite Rugby League by a mile, where it is 4 points for a try, 2 for a conversion, 2 points for a penalty kick, and 1 point for a drop goal. People above are describing Rugby Union.

  11. rugby players bleed alot

american football has a lot of protective gear that rugby players would never use

  12. Rugby is diferent because you cant pass foward you dont tackle everybody america sucks at rugby and rugbys better

  13. American football is weird..too much stopping and stupid rules...rugby is fast paced and dont require so much d**n padding...

  14. Rugby is a real mans game, no padding, no helmets, just pure brute force and skill, American football is all padding and helmets so that they don't get their overweight, over paid (and fortunately over there) bodies damaged, I would love to see an American football team try a game of rugby against a good UK team and I am sure that by half time all the USA team would not be able to walk very far!!!

  15. pads  but look up the rules online... theres more stoping in american football

  16. american football is S***y to slow an loads of padding

  17. Rugby players don't wear comical oversized helemets for a start.

Rugby is player without rolling subs, a normal rugby match lasts 80 mins and not 5 hours. You aren't allow to pass forward in rugby, rugby have rucks and mauls at the tackle area instead of stoping for an advert break.

  18. assuming you mean the soccer and the rugby...

the soccer is a game where a round ball is used for kicking. kicking is good in the game and throwing is really.. an illegal move.

the rugby is a game where an oval ball is used instead, in this case, its thrown around. iow, throwing with hands is good. kicking is.. im not sure.

assuming that the american football is using the same ball as rugby , you infuse both ideas into one. giveing you rugbysoccer. bla.

  19. rugby is more violent. they don't wear pads and they more or less tackle head-on

  20. Rugby is faster. There are other idfferences too.

  21. Rugby has less equipment (no helmets or shoulder pads), fewer stoppages of play, and no forward passes. And the referee has more leeway in making decisions (I think)--doesn't stop play if the team that broke the rules didn't gain any advantage from doing so and can award a penalty try (ie the same number of points as if the score had been made) if the only thing stopping the team from scoring (in the ref's judgement) was an offence by the other team.

    Overall, though:

Soccer is a gentleman's game played by hooligans.

Rugby is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen.

American football is a hooligan's game played by hooligans.

    (Or ladies--women play rugby too!)

  22. Fatter players, shoulder pads and American football players get paid more money ! (ha-ha) Seriously though, there is no half time in rugby and if you have a hurt player you just play with one less player. The equipment is different and rugby players have to be in alot better health because there is alot more running involved.  There are technical differences as well, but in the long and short of things that is about it! Personally I prefer Rugby and Futbol(soccer) the original football. I have never been a fan of American Footbal at all.
