What is the difference & similarity between sales & marketing?

Sales is a part of marketing.

Marketing is everything from creating the product, to finding the buyers.  With sales, you generally already have the product, you just need to find a buyer for it.  Marketing is Product, Placement, Price, and Promotion.  Sales is a combination of the placement and promotion.

Sales - deals more with end user, dealer or subsidiary - you actually do the talking and make the calls

Marketing - get a clear plan for the sales team. We're talking PowerPoints, plans, promotional materials, etc.
