What is the difference <span title="between,200,500,800etc...thread">between,200,500,800etc......</span> ct in sheets?

Is it softness,thickness and/or what else? I'm just an inexperienced man who need to buy sheets! What do I look for? Some examples of preferred brands, would be appreciated!!! Thanks

  1. the &quot;thread count&quot; is what those numbers are referring to- the number of threads per square inch. The higher the thread count, the finer and softer the sheet. I have 600 now after a long life of 300 or under and it&#039;s pretty heavenly!!! My next goal is to get some 800s!!!! Also, Egyptian cotton is supposed to be very good. I always wait to get good sheets at the day after Thanksgiviing sale when they are usually 1/2 off. Have fun with some new, better quality bedding!!!!

Generally, the higher the thread count the softer the sheets.  Higher thread count sheets will also wear better and last longer.  you also need to pay attention to the kind of cotton the sheets are made from.  You want a long staple cotton for the softest sheets.  I think Egyptian cotton is the best.  250 ct egyption will be softer than 400 ct pima.  So, don&#039;t just look for the thread count but also for the type of cotton.  I have 440 count egyptian sheets and they are wonderfully soft.
