What is the difference with coloured pool balls and numbered?

In the US, the pool balls are are numbered 1 thru 15.  1 thru 8 are solid colors, 9 thru 15 are stripes.  1 and 9 are yellow, 2 and 10 are blue, 3 and 11 are red, 4 and 12 are purple, 5 and 13 are orange, 6 and 14 are green, 7 and 15 are maroon, 8 is black.  I'm not really sure if that answers your question though.

American pool balls are numbered for playing 9 ball and a variety of other games. In England, they are typically colored because we play straight black ball pool. It would be hard to play 9 ball with English pool balls unless you wrote on the balls with a marker. Also, US balls are marked solids or stripes so that they are easier to identify without directly looking at them.

There's no difference, in England you normally just play with colours, as we don't play as many varieties as in the US, but the basic game is that each player has to pot their 7 balls and then the black. In england, this is often signified by red and yellow balls, but you do sometimes get the balls with the numbers. In this case, instead of red and yellow, you get spots and stripes, as some balls are just one colour with a number on and other have white ends and a number on. Nothing really. You either play with numbered and coloured pool balls, or you play with spot and stripes.

I think the numbered pool balls are more common in the USA.
