  1. clinical thermos have a constriction, so u still can see the temperature when u take it out of whatseva you are measuring the temperature if, but the mercury in lab thermos do not have and thus will immediately measure the temperature of the air instead of remaining at the previous's temperature.
    Also, their ranges differ.The clinical thermo can measure from 35degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius while the laboratory thermo can measure from -10 to 110  degrees Celsius.
